((I apologize very much for my absence from the site! I will attempt to catch up on this thread.))
The wolves fled, and the ranks of Narnia's army cheered, shaking their weapons at their defeated enemies. General Oreius trotted over to King Peter, wiping off his swords and returning them to their sheaths.
"We have beaten them for now, my King. Well done."
Peter nodded, for a moment his gaze followed where the enemy had fled into the distance. "Yes, but I fear that this was only a skirmish, something to test the strength of our defenses. We must call a Council of War."
They walked amongst the army, aiding the wounded and returning to the gates when suddenly Peter remembered the wolf and lioness that had fought so valiantly in the battle. He wiped his sword, sheathed it, and followed the two sets of tracks leading to the riverside. Nodding to the two creatures there, he spoke with gratitude in his voice.
"My thanks to you both. Without your help the battle would not have been won so easily."
