Oskan ran back to the battle at full speed and launched himself on top of the nearest wolf. He snarled and bit down hard into the older wolve's neck. This is for the pain you have caused me all my life... He thought. No, he did not think this in revenge, it was mearly symbolic for him. His parents had now been avenged and his misery ended. He lifted his now-bloody muzzle and let loose a meaningful howl that echoed through the clearing and woods beyond.

Tamsin looked down at the wolf with surprise, but bent down to pick up the object anyway. It was a gauntlet, one of High King Peter's own, as far as he could tell. With a nod, Tamsin turned to the other archers behind him, signaling to shoot any wolves still remaning. He himself had his eye on the large she-wolf, seemingly in charge...
Kila growled a curse as arrows began to pick off the remaining wolves. They were retreating! Even a blind man could have seen that! Looking up at where the arrows were coming from, the she-wolf's eyes widened as she saw one pointed at her. How dare they think an arrow would be the deah of her! Oh well, now was not the time to worry about it. Breaking into a run, Kila passed through the castle gates in retreat, Tamsin's arrow hitting the ground where she had been not a moment before.

"Hmm... I suppose we have done quite well, haven't we?" Mikaila said quietly to herself as an arrow nearly peirced the she-wolf. "Yes, anyway. Good day, High King. You did well, and came at the right time." Mikaila nodded her head in respect, then got up and trotted away, ignoring the jabs of pain in her side and chest.

Tamsin muttered something inaudible as he saw his arrow had missed, and ran a hand through his short hair. They had done well, but some of their party was wounded, or worse. How did they get in here in the first place? Tamsin wondered, moving over to the black wolf who had brought him the gauntlet. Looking down at the now dead wolf by the black one's paws, the Faun nodded. "Uh...here, before I forget," he said, holding out the gauntlet. "I'd imagine the High King would want this back."

Oskan was shaking. He was sorta in shock after what he had done. Maurgrim was going to KILL HIM! His eyes betrayed his fear. But relief soon took his fears place as he relized that he was free. He no longer had to live in fear and shame. No more killing innocent Narnians and meutral folks. No more....The voice of the faun snapped him out of his thoughts and the young wolf stepped away from the old wolf he had slaine. "O-ofcousre..Forgive my pause..." Oskan lowered his head and picked up the gautlet. His silver eyes searched for the king and he soon found him. The ebony elder pup padded up to the king, his ears lowered and tail brushing the ground. The young wolf dropped the gautlet at King Peter's paws..er...feet and bowed his head lew, sweaping his left front paw under his chest.

Oskan lifted his head but kept it low still. He noticed the limping lioness and padded to her side, leaning into her flank and trying to help her.

"Thank you..." Mikaila said breathlessly. They two hobbled over to a hill where she sat, panting heavily. "I am sorry for calling you a traitor. You did not deserve it, and I was being prejudice. You could have changed your ways or wanted to redeem yourself, but I was too concerned for my own welfare. It was an unjust thing to do, and I hope that in time you can forgive me."

Oskan sat down becide the she-cat. He looked down at his paws and shuffled then withh discomfort. "I-its okay...I suppose I have earned it after all the unjust I have done for the past moons..." He muttered. The young wolf knew that he diserved a good bite, be it words or fangs. "My past missions have caused me to questiono my loyalties many times so I find myself a little disloyal...Caught between Narnia and the Land of Eternal Winter." His silver eyes sparkled with hope of the future, but past memories clouded his stary eyes and he looked back down at his paws. "I have killed far to many for my age...I can still feel the poor souls I have been forced to slain...Its almost sufficating sometimes..."

Mikaila watched as Oskan confessed his sins. She was no longer afraid of him, nor upset at him, but she felt sorry for him. He was right. He made a mistake.
"You can fix that, Oskan. You can stay with us as an outcast of the Witch, and we will protect you. And you may breathe with ease now and do whatever you want. No one can stop you but those evil and bent on destruction. Alsan's kind is not like that. They love you and will forgive you- no matter what." Mikaila waited patiently as he pondered her words.

Oskan's stary eyes took on a strange distant look as memories flashed before him. Deaths, blind blood lust, anger, fear, deception, and pain. All these pictures flashed before him like an unstoppable slideshow. He cringed at these scenes and began to shake. Mikalia's words sank in slowly and his eyes slowly brightened and he looked up from his small pup-like paws. "Y-your right...I may be forgiven but it's hard to forgive myself. All my life I have been played' like in a giant chess game." Oskan shook his small black head. He remembered how he didn't like sympathy and looked into the lioness's eyes. "But thats said and done and theres nothing I can do to brong back the dead and lost. Do you need any healing herbs?" He asked, changing the subject.

Mikaila suddenly remembered the gash in her side and gasped. "I may... but I will live. I need to wash... do you wish to come to the river with me?"

Oskan percked his ears nervously. What?!? Alone with a lioness?!?..... His thoughts soon faded and he drooped his ears for a second, in thought. Don't be cowardly you fool! She won't hurt you! He said to himself bitterly. Oskan looked back up at the lioness and nodded. "Ofcourse..." He said, getting to his ebony paws.

Mikaila also rose, but she felt less pain then she had. The two walked down the slpoe into a calmly running river, where the lioness' blood streamed away and her pelt once again became glossy.
"Tell me," Mikaila broke the silence. "How did you come into the possesion of the Witch?"

Oskan looked into the water's depts, his small reflection shimmering and moving with the waves coming from the paddling of Mikaila. His thoughts wondered for a monment until the swimming lioness disterbed his thoughts. "Um..Ever since my pa died...My mother and i had to seek shelter somwhere and there had been a blizard that day." As he said this images began to pass again. Ghosts of the past. "I knew we were lost but mum refused to admit it. I guess she didn't want to scare me. But she didn't need to say, I was scared already. There was a cave and we took shelter in it. But what we didn't know was that the wood we were in belonged to the White Witch. Maurgrim captured us and killed my mother right in front of my face." Oskan shut his eyes tight to try to make the slideshow stop. The young adult began to shake again. "Once he killed her Maurgrim threw her dead body in my face and told me thaqt if I ever disobeyed him that would be my fate..." Oskan bowed his head and the images soon faded.
